What is Little Quiet Mind?

LQM is a free online story library for children aged 3 to 10, available 24/7 anywhere in the world.

Children can read stories online, follow along with audio, or explore them interactively through a flipbook.

Our collection features fun, engaging short stories and picture books, thoughtfully organised by theme to make it easy for children, parents, carers, and teachers to navigate.

From whimsical adventures to more thoughtful stories, LQM explores emotions, celebrates cultural diversity, and promotes inclusivity—all while supporting a child’s literacy and character development.

LQM Mission & Values.

Giving Back:  Life can be demanding for parents and carers of young children. Accessing a physical library isn’t always possible, and financial constraints can make it difficult to build a home story collection.  LQM was created to help bridge that gap—making stories freely available to children who can benefit from them, wherever they are in the world.

Adding Value & Building Character:  Reading stories is a fun and engaging way to nurture imagination, expand vocabulary, and support mindfulness. The stories shared on LQM are culturally diverse, exploring a range of topics, emotions, and everyday experiences. Each one is designed to enrich your child’s literacy journey while introducing different cultures that foster inclusivity and a sense of equality.

Meet Sharan, the Creator!

My name is Sharan, and I am the creator behind Little Quiet Mind.  My greatest achievement and inspiration is my son, Taj. Here is a picture of the two of us from many years ago.  We were in a photobooth and had a series of silly pictures taken!  Taj and I had so much fun that afternoon and giggled a lot!


Fun Facts About Me!:

  • I am 53 years of age however, I am still very much young at heart when it comes to my choice of literature! 
  • My favourite author of all time is Roald Dahl;  I adore his children's and adult literature.  My favourite story of his is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  
  • I also love Richard Scarry books, especially the illustrations.  My favourite story of his is "What Do People Do All Day?" 
  • As a child, one of my favorite pastimes was reading The Berenstain Bears collection of stories. My most loved story in this collection is "New Baby".  
  • I love the Mr. Men series, and my favourite characters are Mr.Happy and Mr. Messy.  
  • Meg and Mog, and Miffy bring me so much joy visually and through the storytelling.  
  • I adore all works by Enid Blyton, and so many more authors and stories, which I will share as LQM evolves.
